My Story
After nearly 40 years in general dentistry, I created this resource to highlight the importance of prevention in dental health. By taking responsibility for our oral health, we can support one another and avoid costly long-term treatment.
Prevention is more effective, more affordable and longer-lasting than cure. Together we can help reduce the burden on the NHS – one tooth at a time.
The Downs Peer Review Group Committee
Founders Antony Smith BDS DPDS and Paul Martin BDS(Hons) established the Downs Peer Review Group after years of teaching, mentoring and promoting collaborative learning. The committee is now supported by colleagues we helped train – and who keep us engaged with current developments.
Ceri – Restorative & Implant Dentistry
Ceri specialises in restorative dentistry and dental implants, teaches nationally and leads the Lodge Training Foundation implant programme. He mentors other dentists and supports the development of modern, evidence-based implant practice.
Rick – Minimally Invasive & Orthodontics
Rick focuses on preserving natural teeth using minimally invasive techniques. After postgraduate training in orthodontics, he now provides a full range of treatments for suitable cases and lectures internationally on invisible orthodontics, endodontics and aesthetic restorative work.
Ouda – Design & Media Support
Ouda has played a key role in improving the design and content of our websites and videos. His critical eye and creative input have helped turn ideas into clear, accessible resources for both the public and the profession.
Jeremy & Satsuma – Digital Infrastructure
Jeremy has provided invaluable IT support, advising on what is possible and sustainable. Satsuma are helping us bring scattered resources onto a robust platform so we can develop a free, prevention-focused service for the public.
By working together rather than in isolation, we aim to improve access to dental care and support better oral health for everyone.
