Most people prefer learning through short videos, so I began creating them for my patients around eight years ago as part of the Teeth4life dental app. Although the app is no longer available on iOS or Google Play, nearly all the videos are still accessible on the Teeth4life YouTube channel. The search function and playlists make them easy to browse, and the content remains up to date — prevention advice hasn’t changed much in over 40 years. Prevention is always better, and far cheaper, than cure.

The advantage of an app over a website is that it can be customised by any member of the dental team and personalised by anyone who uses it. The challenge, of course, is that hosting an app for a small group is far more expensive than running a website. But with economies of scale — and enough contributors — we can create our own personalised Dental Health Service that supports everyone’s wellbeing.
