Replica denture FAQ
These questions come from the original 3D Dental website. The wording has been updated so that we do not make clinical or regulatory promises before the new pathway is confirmed.
What is a replica denture?
A replica denture is made using a digital record of an existing denture. The aim is to reproduce the established shape as closely as the chosen manufacturing process allows.
Why use a digital scan?
A digital file does not undergo the physical distortion associated with conventional impression materials and can be stored for future use.
Will it fit exactly the same?
A replica is intended to reproduce the existing appliance, but no website should promise that every new device will require no adjustment. Fit, tissues, wear and manufacturing tolerances all matter.
Where can I get a scan?
The future service can list participating dental practices or mobile scanning providers. The scan must meet the technical requirements of the selected laboratory.
Can I choose a different colour?
Depending on the manufacturing option, tooth and gum shades may be available. This needs to be confirmed against the current laboratory range.
How will I pay?
The rebuilt site is being designed to support online payment and secure upload of scan files. The payment pathway is not yet live in this prototype.
What if my old denture already fits badly?
Copying a poorly fitting denture will not solve the underlying problem. A dental assessment, reline, new denture or another treatment may be more appropriate.
What about oral health checks?
A stored denture scan does not replace examination of the mouth. Changes, pain, ulcers, swelling or other concerns should be assessed appropriately.
What is the complaints/refund process?
The original website offered a simple refund statement. A new policy should be written once the manufacturer, fitting pathway, returns process and consumer terms are confirmed.
