Awaiting GDC guidance
Don’t wait until the denture is lost.
If an existing denture is comfortable and familiar, a digital record can be created while it is still available. That record may make a future spare or replacement much easier to produce.

A simple three-stage idea
Record
Digitally scan the existing denture and capture the information needed by the selected manufacturing pathway.
Choose
Select the appropriate material, finish, identification option and whether a spare is wanted now or a record is being kept for later.
Manufacture
When required, the approved digital record can be used within the correct clinical and laboratory pathway.
Why make a replica?
- The wearer is already accustomed to the shape of the existing denture.
- A spare may reduce disruption if the original is lost or damaged.
- A stored digital record can avoid starting entirely from zero.
- Denture identification can be added as an option when a replica denture is manufactured, particularly for care homes and hospitals.
A replica is not automatically the right answer
If the original denture is uncomfortable, badly worn or no longer suitable, copying it may simply reproduce the problem. A dental assessment or a new design may be more appropriate.
